Do I Need to Play Control Before Resonant?

Answer: No — you do not need to play Control (2019) first. Remedy designed CONTROL Resonant to stand alone and includes a menu recap for newcomers. Playing the original adds sibling / Oldest House context but is not required.

What newcomers need to know

The FBC contains paranatural threats.
The Hiss is a reality-corrupting force from the first game.
You play Dylan Faden; Jesse is not playable this time.

When the original helps

If you care about Faden family history and Oldest House lore, start with Control Ultimate Edition (or the Steam Siblings Collection bundle). For combat and systems, jump straight into Resonant — melee is a different loop anyway.
