CONTROL Resonant Boss Tips — How to Beat Every Resonant

Breaker enemy (open-world heavy / bus-like Hiss) is not a Resonant boss — combat + Command trophy tips → Breaker enemy. Hedron Factor / Proxy during Sever the Hedron Links.

Quick answer: Resonants punish greed. Learn each tell, take short punish windows, and answer phase gimmicks first (fire nodes, puppets, tentacles, mind-control meter). Locations and ability picks stay on Resonants — this page is fight strategy. Unofficial companion — tips synthesized from launch boss guides.

Locations and ability picks stay on Resonants; bring a stronger kit from the beginner build before Co-Director. For 100% completion context see the Platinum roadmap.

Before any Resonant

  • Clear nearby World Feats so enemy levels aren’t red vs your Build Power.
  • Bring Crush (or another high-Falter secondary) for Executions and heals.
  • Craft Heart Monitor / Amulet if available — see Artifacts.
  • Assist Mode still unlocks trophies if you only need the kill for story/Platinum.

The Artist (Downtown)

Tutorial Resonant. Stay mobile, learn Perfect Dodge → Dominance, and pick Barrage (default), Shield, or Volatile Anomaly for the rest of the early game. Don’t overthink — the real skill check comes later.

The Deserter (Central)

  • Theme: fire / Burn. Burn also blocks Power regen — clear it with Cleansing Rush if you have the talent.
  • During lava spew / spinning fire AoE: sprint and dash around the arena; don’t stand in lingering ground fire.
  • After body slam or combo end: get behind the boss for a short melee string, then reset.
  • Mid-fight: dodge the three fire projectiles — near-dodge the last one if you want retaliation damage.
  • Late phase: destroy the four magma sacs / fire nodes on the pipes immediately. They heal the Deserter and trash the floor; popping them also chunks its HP.
  • Ability pick: Ignite or Inferno (fire helps vs Park Mold).

The Dancer (West Incursion)

  • Needs Shift from the Parking Garage Jesse Sighting first.
  • Phase 1: let it commit (lunge / spin / pounce), dodge the full animation, punish recovery with a short combo — then reset. Long strings get punished.
  • Spin travels with limbs out; one dodge often isn’t enough — keep lateral until it fully stops.
  • Phase 2: boss goes airborne and sends audience puppets. Don’t stand under it — back up so you can see puppets and the landing. Clear figures first; save ranged abilities for airborne downtime.
  • When the stage flashes blue, dump damage into the Falter window.
  • Ability: Ground Slam (burst / aerial) or Push (cheap knockback / hazards).

The Collective (The Park)

  • Open the Mold Gate by eating strains around the Park (Cafe / Pizzeria / Minimart / Gym style locations), then use Shift / Reach on wall tentacles en route.
  • Fight spans multiple planes: clear tentacles on side planes before big damage on the “head” plane.
  • Jump / Shift over slam waves; stay mobile between platforms.
  • After tentacles drop, hit the inflated weak spots / eye-mouth sockets, then finish on the Falter prompt.
  • Ability: Spore Burst or Growth.

The Physicist (Underpass)

  • Access: Spire path + three Astral Keys (east / north / south side routes).
  • Opening: it chases and AoE explodes when close — loop the arena, then punish with ~3 hits after each blast.
  • Airborne projectile volleys: keep sprinting a wide circle.
  • When it shifts platforms / splits into orb copies: kill copies first (they stunlock), use pillars for cover.
  • Spike waves: dodge sideways; attack during wind-up, not during the pulse.
  • Final stretch: two orb minions + boss — clear minions first, then finish.
  • Ability: Spike or Astral Rebuke.

The Co-Director (Unknown)

  • Story approach via Rangers’ distress / Patterned Field Office elevator after Unknown setup.
  • Mind-control meter fills during the fight — if it maxes, Dylan dies. This is a damage race, not a turtle fight.
  • Community guides recommend high Aberrant Power (often cited ~110+) before attempting.
  • Dodge beams and bomb spheres hard (they push the meter fastest); clear controlled Rangers on sight.
  • Reward: Command (needed for Psychic Domination trophy on Breakers).

Hedron (endgame)

Story climax after severing Hedron Links. Treat it as the final skill check — bring your best Artifacts, keep Dominance chains healthy, and don’t leave fire/mold resists unfinished if those statuses still appear. Extra Combat Ability Point is the reported reward; defeating all Resonants + Hedron completes the Gap Mural (Graffiti Artist).
