CONTROL Resonant Bosses — Resonant Locations & Ability Rewards

Quick answer: Regional Resonants are CONTROL Resonant’s big paranatural bosses. Defeat them for Combat Ability choices and to repair the Gap mural. Expect The Artist (Downtown prologue), then Deserter, Dancer, Collective, Physicist, Co-Director across the zones (no regional Resonant in Evacuation Zone). Hedron is a separate endgame story fight. Unofficial primers — not full frame-by-frame strategies.

The Artist

Tutorial / orientation Resonant. Finishing it opens Central and your first major Combat Ability choice. Beginners: take Barrage for range (or Shield if you’re getting chunked). See Beginner build.

The Deserter (Central)

Underground under the Patterned Factory. Clear power-core / steam-tumor gates, then take the elevator. Fire abilities from this fight make The Park Mold much kinder — lean Ignite on a melee beginner path.

The Dancer (West Incursion)

Theater Hall arena — fast movement, punish after lunges. Requires Shift from the Parking Garage Jesse Sighting. Drops Untapped Amulet in beginner guides. Ability: Ground Slam (air slam) or Push (knockback / environmental kills).

The Collective (The Park)

Behind the central Mold Gate after you consume the zone’s Mold strains (cafe / pizza / minimart / gym style POIs). Bring Shift/Reach and preferably fire. Ability: Spore Burst (Infected projectiles) or Growth (mold turret).

The Physicist (Underpass)

Spire / Astral Plane route with multiple Astral Keys. Expect gravity puzzles mixed into the fight approach. Ability: Spike or Astral Rebuke — pick what fits your ranged vs melee comfort.

The Co-Director (Unknown)

Late Unknown Resonant tied to Patterned Field Office / ranger distress beats. Ability unlock is typically Command. Clear other Resonants beforehand if the Gap mural / completion is your goal.

Hedron

Endgame story boss in Unknown after Hedron Links are severed. Multi-phase arenas with adds feeding the health bar — treat as its own fight, not “just another regional Resonant.”

Suggested boss order

Artist → Dancer / Deserter (either after Shift) → Collective → Physicist → Co-Director → Hedron. Matching route guide: What to do first.

Ignite or Inferno?

Answer: After The Deserter (Central), beginner tables lean Ignite (Burn on hits — strong vs Park Mold / New Growth specimens). Inferno is the heavier fire Combat Ability option in the same fire toolkit — pick the one that matches your loadout tooltip; both are fire answers to Mold.

Push or Ground Slam?

Answer: After The Dancer (West Incursion, needs Shift): Ground Slam rewards aerial / rooftop burst; Push is cheap knockback into hazards / Gravity Anomalies. Neither is wrong — Slam for damage spikes, Push for control.
